Dr. Natasha Halfkenny - Experienced Educational Leader

Dr. Natasha Halfkenny is an instructional leader and the founder of Melanin Scholars, LLC, an organization providing academic support, mentoring, and career preparation. As an educational leader with nearly three decades of experience, Dr. Natasha Halfkenny has worked for Boston Public Schools and served as an adjunct professor of English composition at Roxbury Community College.

Her work centers on supporting young people in urban communities as they develop academically, socially, and emotionally. In particular, Dr. Halfkenny emphasizes equitable literacy, inclusive learning environments, and the importance of building relationships with families and community organizations.

Through Melanin Scholars, LLC, she provides tutoring and mentoring while connecting students with college and career and life readiness resources. The organization also introduces students to entrepreneurship, vocational pathways, and job shadowing opportunities through partnerships with businesses, universities, and community groups.

Dr. Halfkenny holds a doctor of education in international higher education administration from Northeastern University. She also earned a master’s degree in teaching from Simmons College. Her professional recognition includes a Commonwealth of Massachusetts House of Representatives Honorable Citation for the 10 Boys/10 Girls Initiative and an Outstanding Leadership Award from Education 2.0.
